Brazil's sports minister, Ande Fufuca, and soccer body president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, confirmed in person with FIFA President Gianni Infantino that the country will bid to host the 2027 Women's World Cup. The three delegates posed for pictures at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium, where Fluminense defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 to claim the Copa Libertadores title.

Latin America has never hosted any of the tournament's nine previous editions.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed the document, which provides FIFA with seven assurances for hosting the Women's World Cup, including tax breaks, work permits, and visa procedures, as part of a policy promoting women's soccer participation.

FIFA previously announced that it had received three other bids for 2027, including one from the United States and Mexico, as well as two-point expressions of interest from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. Southern America has hosted men's tournaments twice, in 1950 and 2014, whereas Africa has yet to host the Women's World Cup.

Brazil submitted a bid agreement in April, with the deadline set for mid-May. The complete list of bids will be released on December 8, with on-site inspections scheduled for February 2024.

The most recent tournament, held in Australia and New Zealand in July and August, saw Spain become the first-ever champions.

Brazil has five Men's World Cup titles but zero Women's World Cup titles, while the United States has four titles in Women's events.
