Through 2024, Foxconn, a global electronics contract manufacturer based in Taiwan, will have generated over USD 10 billion in revenue from its activities in India. The chairman of Foxconn, Young Liu, made the announcement.
To date, the contract manufacturer has made USD 1.4 billion in investments in its Indian operations. Foxconn has created a residential complex exclusively for women. This action was taken not long after the business was involved in a scandal involving discriminatory tactics used against candidates who were married women. This action by the massive Taiwanese company is a positive step in showcasing Foxconn's dedication to employee welfare and gender diversity.
With USD 1.4 billion invested in India thus far, Foxconn's involvement in the country is growing. In conversation with PTI "So far, till last year, we have done more than USD 10 billion in business size," said chairman Young Liu at the opening of a women-only residential complex close to Foxconn's manufacturing. In the upcoming year, we'll do a lot more."
Chairman Young Liu is making his first trip to India following his award of the esteemed Padma Bhushan. He has discussed Foxconn's inclusive hiring practices throughout the visit. Additionally, he made it clear that married women in particular are crucial to the business's operations.
In response to claims of discriminatory recruiting practices, Foxconn has declared that 70% of its workers are women working in its factories. Of all new hires, married women make up 25%.
Over 18,000 female workers will stay in the recently opened women-only housing complex.
