France announces Clara Chappaz as First Minister of AI

France has announced the appointment of the first “Minister of AI” (Artificial Intelligence) in the world, taking a forwarding step towards merging technology and politics. For this position, Clara Chappaz, a 35-year-old woman has been elected a Secretary of State for AI and Digitalization.

All this happened amidst French government’s significant restructuring, while the government is trying to position itself as global leader in technology. This significant step has been taken, following the strategic move of President Emmanuel Macron that aligns with the idea of transforming Paris into the ‘city of AI’, with the reinforcement of the commitment of the country to technological innovation.

Prior to joining her new position, Clara was leading a government initiative ‘La French Tech’ that focused on startups. She has also worked in private sectors including stints at technology and fashion companies like Vestiaire Collective where she occupied the position of Chief Business Officer. She is also a graduate from prestigious Harvard Business School that adds to her experience in academic knowledge as well as practical experience too.

This appointment serves as milestone for the country as well as the world and can be a start of a new trend mark in the world of politics and technology, combined.
