GCash & Connected Women Partner to Empower Women in AI

GCash, and Connected women, in a partnership brought the world of AI and female empowerment together through a joint initiative. On April 17, 2024, they have launched Elevate Gail (Generative AI Learning), a flagship training course dedicated to skills development where women freelancers, micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and professionals will get a chance to learn how to use the power of generative AI technology for their professional growth and development.

With this partnership, GCash is offering 100 scholarship slots for women who will take over the Elevate Gail program. This initiative not only helps to increase the efficiency and productivity of women workers but is also a demonstration that GlobalCaash is dedicated to promoting women in technology and providing financial services through invention.

Sarita Venturina, the Chief Data Officer of GCash, stated that this program is very important now being that there are a lot of international and local remittances. "As the gig economy and remote working become more common, freelancers realize that Gen AI could be a significant aid to increase their productivity, creativity, and earning potential," she said. "We, in conjunction with the Connected Women platform, take the access gap problem and strive to bolster women's status in the field of Gen AI as a financial way of moving up."

Connected Women, a commended social impact organization in the Philippines, has been the pioneer in offering virtual skill improvement training and work from home jobs to women. During her speech, Agnes Gervacio, founder and CEO of Connected Women, pointed out the necessity to equip women with the skills needed for the continuously transforming technology sector. "Women need to be armed with datasets and technical know-how in emerging tech like AI, which is about fostering a gender-diverse and inclusive industry," she argued.

The partnership had started in 2023, Connected Women became available under GCash's Earn Money Feature, and the platform provided up to lakhs of women with work-from-home opportunities. As for today, 68,000 women have registered through this channel.

Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba from the DTI’s Competitiveness and Innovation Group addresses the role of innovation and women in technology advancement during the inauguration of Elevate Gail project. She emphasized this collaboration as the Philippine government's active role towards decent AI deployment and digital transformation processes in the country.

Gail program aims at empowering women through online skills development, inculcate ethical AI practices among them and involve them in shaping the tech world. This partnership assists women business owners to develop an environment that is supportive of creative activities and opportunities with generative AI as a key player in boosting human abilities in areas such as creative tasks, design and data analysis.

GCash, the technology partner of Connected Women, has made a noteworthy move towards female leadership in tech, gender equity and technological modernization in the country. The pipeline for more women in software engineering and technology did not only give them life skills but also contributed to the industry to be more diverse and dynamic.
