GCash signs the UN Women Empowerment Principles Commitment in honour of the United Nations Women International Girls in ICT Day.
According to the agreement, GCash will support and carry out efforts that open doors for current and upcoming tech professionals of either gender. The agreement also confirms GCash's ongoing dedication to the UN's initiative to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
With a staff that includes 46% female leaders, including its CEO, GCash is a fintech firm that promotes gender equality, diversity, and inclusion as a significant and essential component of its work culture. This is greater than the industry average of 28%.
The highlight of GCash's GTalks, a celebration of the UN Women International Girls in ICT Day that highlighted prominent women executives in the financial sector, was this talk.
Rosalyn "Lenlen" Mesina, the UN Women's national coordinator, gave a speech to kick off the program. GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon then signed the company's pledge to uphold the UN Women Empowerment Principles.
GTalks' "Empowering Women in Tech" topic seeks to encourage all women to make their mark in the fintech sector by presenting varied viewpoints from various female industry experts.
Celebrities from various tech companies attended the event, including Connected Women co-founder Gina Romero, Michelle Alarcon, co-founder of the For the Women Foundation, Pebbles Sy, chief technical operations officer at GCash, and Robert Gonzales, chief people officer at GCash. Karen Davila, a well-known journalist, moderated the program.
"At GCash, we're devoted to making sure that our everyday culture upholds diversity, equality, and inclusiveness. The success of women—or anyone of any gender—can thrive in this environment, which we are delighted to have built”, according to Martha.
Three UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are supported by GCash, including SDG 5 on gender equality, SDG 10 on reducing inequality, and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth. These serve as guidelines for the e-wallet to create a decent and productive workplace that encourages both personal and economic growth while ensuring that no employee is subjected to discrimination based on their age, gender, race, disability, marital status, personal beliefs, religion, and spiritual practices, political affiliation, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
In addition to offering secure and practical services to Filipinos wherever they may be, GCash is resolute in its efforts to become a leading proponent of a secure, inclusive work environment to realize its goal of "Finance for all."
