The Ghana’s Ministry of Finance has formally inaugurated its Women's Mentoring Programme in an effort to empower women in the workplace. Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare, Deputy Minister of Finance, announced the initiative and encouraged mentees to take advantage of the prospects for professional advancement provided by the program.
Mrs. Abena stressed the participants' limitless potential, expressing hope that the mentorship platform would encourage learning and transfer of critical leadership and management skills inside the Ministry. She emphasized the program as a potent catalyst for female staff professional development, emphasizing a relationship based on trust, mutual respect, and a shared goal of excellence.
Mrs. Abena highlighted, using the European Union's Women Empowerment Principles, that 95% of workers with mentors self-report greater productivity, while organizations with mentoring programs saw a 77% drop in brain drain. As a roadmap for productive mentorship sessions, the Deputy Minister suggested the 'G-R-O-W model,' a four-step structure concentrating on Goal, Reality, Options, and Wrap-up.
Dr Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Vice Chairperson of the Public Services Commission, praised the Ministry's leadership for assisting young women in achieving positions of leadership. She asked mentees to commit to the initiative's success, emphasizing the significance of everyone taking their roles seriously.
Ms Eva Mends, Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, emphasized the program's intentionality in establishing a suitable atmosphere for women to contribute to the country's prosperity. She urged mentees to be ready, present, and dependable for opportunities, complimenting the Ministry's proactive approach to provide organized assistance for women's achievement.
