Every day, more than 300 million girls and women have their periods, yet many women find it challenging to manage their periods in a secure and comfortable manner. Three years ago, Plan International USA joined forces with Kimberly-Clark, its foundation, and the Kotex Brand to assist individuals in managing their periods peacefully.

According to Shanna Marzilli, president, and chief executive officer of Plan International USA, no girl should ever feel ashamed of getting her period. It is necessary to accept in daily life and is both healthy and normal. Young leaders involved with Plan are removing myths and advocating for menstrual hygiene all throughout the world, including in the United States. They are laying the foundations for a better future.

She said that the Kimberly-Clark partnership has so far reached more than 3.5 million individuals in Brazil, China, Colombia, Guatemala, India, Nigeria, Peru, and Vietnam with management and education programs for menstrual health. These efforts take a complete approach by giving girls and women the things they need, ensuring that they have the information and skills they need to understand menstruation, and doing all in their power to eliminate period misconceptions and stigmas.

Since 2020, Plan has provided more than 8,466 young people with guidance on menstrual health and hygiene education in partnership with Kimberly-Clark.
