The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) has proudly announced the winners of this year's Women in Business Awards (WIBAs), sponsored by Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and BCM Insurance.
Valerie Pringle of Niagara-on-the-Lake received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Airbus. Pringle, an experienced television personality since 1985, co-produced and hosted a number of significant shows, including a documentary on the World Trade Center cleanup. Pringle devotes her time outside of the media to philanthropy, most notably as Chair of the Trans Canada Trail and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation.
Deborah Rosati received the Ruth Unrau Legacy Award, named after Women in Niagara co-founder Ruth Unrau. Rosati is honoured for her remarkable efforts in improving equality, diversity, and inclusion in corporate boardrooms as the CEO of Women Get On Board Inc. She has received an honorary Doctorate of Laws from Brock University, as well as being named one of WXN's Top 100 Canada's Most Powerful Women.
N'ora Kalb, Chair of the GNCC's Women in Niagara Council, stressed the importance of the awards, saying, "The Women in Business Awards is our opportunity to provide some well-deserved recognition to women who have excelled in the business world."
The event celebrated remarkable achievements in a variety of categories, celebrating corporate leaders from many sectors. The GNCC's CEO, Mishka Balsom, underlined the significance of representation, stating that recognizing women in senior roles sends a powerful statement about the value of gender diversity.
The WIBAs are an annual celebration of women's business leadership and accomplishment, with the goal of inspiring future generations of female executives across sectors.
