The Goke Dele Foundation (GDF) has organised a one-day financial literacy workshop in Lagos, Nigeria. The workshop was initiated for the small-scale businesswomen in order to support them in scaling their business in addition to bring forward their economic capacity.
Additionally, the key focus of the workshop was to celebrate International Women Day 2024, to show their dedication towards fostering economic inclusivity and addressing gender financial inclusion gap that has been there in the Africa.
Bethel Esamah, Programme Manager of the foundation, exclaimed that as a data revealed by fifth annual Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs (2021), Sub-Saharan Africa is the global leader in women’s entrepreneurial activity which has been boasting a participation rate of 26%.
The data shows a progressive statistic but women in Africa still come across several challenges in getting financial support. She says, “Consequently, enhancing financial literacy among female entrepreneurs becomes imperative to unlock their full potential and contribute to national economic development.”
Moreover, she proclaims that GDF has collaborated with finance sector experts in order to provide a in-depth workshop for the women to get exposure on market expansion strategies, business financing along with proficient bookkeeping practices.
The workshop is based on the theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion through Financial Literacy’. The theme shall highlight the role of financial literacy for women to grow their business and foster a scalability in their business.
Furthermore, the workshop serves as a platform for all the African businesswomen to get a better understanding of finances by acquiring practical skills and insights in order to expand their business.
