At the Food for Thought Network (FFTN), Varvara Athanasiou-Ioannou AM and her volunteer team brought Greek women together from Diaspora and Greece during an inaugural Global Women and Hellenism Conference.
The conference continued for 5 days and it received praises from Delegates, and presenters alongside the volunteerism behind the event. Women’s multifaceted identities, barriers, and enablers were discussed during the conference where vice mayor of Ioannina Sofia Markoula, assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Ioannina; and head of business school at the University of Derby at Mediterranean College Dr. Evangelia Markaki; and Dr. Virginia Tsoukatou also made a discussion on gender-biased technological changes as well as the impacts of AI.
Maria Papazoglou, an Executive coach chaired the panel discussion that included Greek Herald’s publisher Dimitra Skalkos; Angela Tomazos, HACCI NT president; Vasiliki Kaskanakou, the CEO of Myrtali Organics. Later on, Penny Sahinis shared inisghts on empowerment and mentorship of women while drawing from her own experience with G20 Sherpa of Australia.
This five-days conference gave Greek women the outlook for the industry. Dorothy Hatzopoulou, FFTN communications manager also chaired the session while getting into the the complex themes of identity and sustainability.
