On September 21, a networking breakfast hosted by the lounge at the Grinnell College Golf Course marked the triumphant return of the "Connecting for Women" series from the Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce. A group of about 20 local Grinnell women, representing a range of ages and backgrounds, met to discuss possibilities for their professional and entrepreneurial development.
The series, which was first introduced in 2019 as an educational session for women in Central Iowa, evolved to satisfy local women in Grinnell's demand for more chances for networking and engagement. The Grinnell community-specific events will be held, as chosen by the Chamber of Commerce.
Kendra Vincent, the coordinator for member engagement at the Grinnell Chamber, emphasized the expansion of the series, which now also includes keynote speakers and organized networking events. In this year's inaugural networking event, challenging questions on professional and workplace topics were presented.
The Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce's president and CEO, Rachael Kinnick, emphasized the value of fostering relationships between women. According to her, "Women don't typically ask for help, and this allows women to realize that there are others like them in similar positions."
The series will continue on October 12 at Grinnell Mutual, when speaker Tina Bakehouse will provide the keynote address on "3 Tips to Become a More Magnetic Communicator." On October 26, a networking event will take place at Solera to wrap up the series. Students from Grinnell College are cordially welcomed to take part in these activities.
