Medium-pacer Heather Graham became the second female cricketer from Australia to score a hat-trick in 20-over matches. Graham's incredible achievement during the fifth T20I match between Australia and India ladies enabled Australia win by a commanding margin of 54 runs at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. When Graham entered the field to bowl the 13th over, the Indian squad was under pressure. Even though the Women in Blue were already five down, Graham wanted to end the game quickly.
Devika Vaidya was dismissed by her off the fifth ball of the 13th over. The veteran Beth Mooney did her best behind the stumps, but the left-handed hitter failed to read the slower delivery and was out.
On the subsequent delivery, the 26-year-old outwitted Radha Yadav to make it two out of two. When she came back in the last over of the innings, Renuka Singh, she not only claimed a hat-trick with the first ball.
After Meghan Schutt, she became the second Australian woman cricketer to accomplish this incredible feat.
On the last ball of the pitch, Graham also got rid of Deepti Sharma, ending the Indian innings at 142.
Earlier, in the fifth and final women's T20 International, Ashleigh Gardner and Grace Harris each scored unbeaten quick half-centuries to lead Australia to a commanding 196 for four against India.
Gardner and Harris stitched an attacking unbeaten 129 off just 62 balls to propel Australia to their highest total of the series, making the Indian bowlers look bad after their initial success.
With the help of 11 boundaries and one six, Gardner finished unbeaten on 66 off 32 balls, while Harris scored 64 runs off 35 balls, including six fours and four knocks over the fence.
As the Indian bowlers looked absolutely out of sorts toward the finish and some shoddy fielding didn't help the hosts, it began to shower fours and sixes.
The most economical bowler for India ended up being Vaidya, who had statistics of 1/26 from her three overs.
