Erika Banda Menza and other members of the Hispanic Business Association of Southeast Texas had an idea that would impact the lives of many women in the area while attending the Professional Women's Conference of the Better Business Bureau last year. Erika said, "We have to bring that to our Spanish speakers, where they can feel at home, learn, and network with other women who can help them with any skills they need help with." The HBA is holding its first Women's Conference on May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as a consequence.
“The Spanish-speaking female is our target market”, according to Erika. “They might work in any sector. They might be students or stay-at-home mothers. Just all women. Not only business but all of our themes are tailored to women.”
According to Zulema Escobedo, “Women are urged to attend regardless of their native language”. Zulema, who will talk at the conference about networking, stated "We help everyone. We assist people of any colour, gender, or demography. This is developed expressly with Hispanics in mind because it comes from a source they can rely on.”
Many of the speakers, according to Zulema, are bilingual and can assist those in need with information interpretation. Work-life balance, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being, personal finances, public speaking, immigration for women in unique situations, women in leadership, and career preparation are themes that are covered in addition to networking.
“They may come to Erika and my sister, who run a multi-service agency, for everything they require. Since that is the feedback we have been receiving from people, we decided to put these topics together and it is good to have all of those resources.”
She said that speakers are either current or former Hispanic Business Association speakers who are deeply connected to the group. Zulema stated, "We're simply entering and showing that there are other options for folks who have alternative aspirations and pathways they want to go. "I'm enthusiastic since that is the goal of this. Speaking to my family members who stay at home, I tell them, I respect y'all because that's hard. Many people, however, also have other dreams. No one's dream is flawed, we only want to say by opening up the doors. We wish to aid and direct you while you travel there.”
The HBA office is located at 734 N. Memorial Motorway in Nederland, and tickets are $25 there or online at EventBrite.com. Both lunch and childcare are provided. Ecclesia, located at 5900 9th Avenue in Port Arthur, is the location of the event, which is sponsored by Port Arthur LNG.
