In partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Huawei South Asia has launched its "Women In Tech 2023" programme for Bangladeshi women. The project, which was launched at a ceremony in the nation's capital Dhaka on 10th June, aims to cultivate indigenous ICT talent, facilitate knowledge exchange among women, and advance gender equality in science and technology.

"Women are now participating more in our labour economy. However, in this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we cannot afford to lag behind," Bangladeshi Education Minister Dipu Moni remarked, praising Huawei's efforts to advance the programme.

Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, stated during the event that Bangladesh has a wealth of human resources, where women's involvement is essential.

According to Yao, Huawei's many training initiatives in Bangladesh helped to create a "Smart Bangladesh" and showed how committed Chinese businesses are to upholding their CSR obligations.

Increasing the visibility of women will open up a world of new opportunities, according to Pan Junfeng, president of Huawei South Asia and CEO of Huawei Bangladesh. This will result in new technical and economic breakthroughs for the nation.

"With our 'Women In Tech' initiative, we are very happy to create another opportunity towards this achievement for this community," the CEO declared.

This year, Huawei has brought the "Women In Tech" competition to Bangladesh for the first time. The "Women In Tech" project was launched internationally in 2020. Women who are enrolled in university programmes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as recent graduates are also eligible to participate.

Through a variety of innovative programmes including Seeds for the Future and the ICT Incubator, Huawei has been actively striving to nurture ICT talent and increase the representation of women in the ICT industry.
