A plethora of the women who were rewarded acknowledged the help extended by Asian Community and Cultural Center by rendering a host of opportunities. They also highlighted the emotional, mental and educational support provided to the migrant women.
Khamisa Abdalla, Project Manager, Asian Community and Cultural Center said, “We need to help women with different cultures. We need to empower them because most of them have come as refugees they didn’t have any backgrounds for leading themselves.”
While addressing the event Khamisa stated that women from various countries including Vietnam, Sudan, China, Middle East reached out to the Asian Community and Cultural Center for aiding in tasks such as like opening bank accounts and looking for job opportunities.
“Here they are faced with a lot of challenges,” Khamisa said. “Languages, even driving, they can’t really know anything, we have to take them by their hands and go step by step.”
She further added, “It’s not easy to learn a English, know how to drive, know how to navigate to buy stuff and today those women here. We are really proud of them to be the first entrepreneur women.”
