Indian Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia Receive RM50mil through PENN

Prosperity Empowerment and A New Normal for Indian Women (PENN) programme has allocated Indian women entrepreneurs with RM50mil. The programme is expected to be able to empower and secure the future of the group.

S. Hemala, Women’s Wing head at Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) said that the fund also exemplifies the struggle of Indian women who has been running businesses in Malaysia. She expressed, “Many Indian women need support, cooperation, guidance and even funds to develop their businesses and move forward.”

The funding has been announced on April 13, 2024, by Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan who’s the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives while Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has allocated the special fund of RM50mil in order to empower Indian women entrepreneurs via this programme.

S. Hemala added, “I am confident that more women entrepreneurs can be born through this programme, which will certainly have a significant impact on the country’s economic development.”

Additionally, Datuk Ramanan said that the allocation of the funds employs internal funds of AIM while benefiting more than 7,100 new Sahabat Usahawan India yet increasing the total number of Skim Pinjaman Ikhtiar AIM’s beneficiaries to 10,200 that includes 3,100 existing entrepreneurs.
