The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) has praised Taiwan's advancements in democracy and technology as the Indo-Pacific Women in Tech Summit, an Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) project, kicks off in Taipei.

The AIT's Director, Sandra Oudkirk, praised Taiwan as an outstanding democracy and technology powerhouse in the Indo-Pacific. She underscored Taiwan's four-decade transformation into a beacon of democracy and a thriving economy, saying, "There is no other place better than Taiwan to host such a regional Women in Tech Summit."

The AWE, founded by the United States State Department in 2019, intends to provide women with the skills and networks they need to succeed in business. Taiwan joined the AWE network in 2021, and a cooperation with Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has graduated 205 women entrepreneurs, boosting local and worldwide company growth.

Sara Mathews of the State Department's East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau lauded Taiwan as a suitable host for the AWE program, acknowledging the country's regional leadership.

Taiwan's Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Chen Chern-chyi reaffirmed Taiwan's commitment to enabling connections among Indo-Pacific women entrepreneurs, boosting collaboration and the exchange of new business ideas.

Since its inception in approximately 100 nations and economies, the AWE program has empowered an estimated 25,000 women entrepreneurs worldwide.

The conference, co-hosted by the AIT and Taiwan's Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration, has assembled over 75 entrepreneurs from various Indo-Pacific nations, establishing a platform for collaboration and growth.

This multi-day event has participants from Brunei, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, exhibiting the region's entrepreneurial variety and promise.

The conference is a tribute to collaborative efforts empowering women in the ever-changing digital sector, with the goal of ensuring a brighter future for the region's corporate community and future generations.
