In the approaching 2024 General Elections, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) has urged voters to cast informed ballots. Lenny N. Rosalin, the Deputy for Gender Equality at KemenPPPA, emphasised the significance of picking leaders with a gender perspective to deal with pressing national challenges, particularly those involving women, children, and gender equality.

Lenny emphasised the significance of the election as a much-anticipated time for all Indonesian voters during her speech at the "Gender and Climate Change Towards the Conference of the Parties (COP) 28" national conversation in Jakarta. She urged voters to carefully consider a candidate's capacity to address pressing national challenges, particularly those involving women, children, and gender issues.

Lenny emphasised that the new leaders, such as the president, the People's Consultative Assembly, the Regional People's Representative Council, and the Regional Representative Council, must be able to create policies and carry out initiatives that successfully address the problems facing the country. Indonesia has a number of international obligations to respect, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

Lenny stressed the importance of ongoing education on women and children for voters as well as potential leaders and lawmakers in order to build a gender-inclusive society and government. The advancement of the country's growth depends on an understanding of issues relating to women, children, and gender equality.

Lenny emphasised that as women and children make up two-thirds of Indonesia's population, it is crucial to take into account their needs and concerns. Indonesia can uphold its commitment to advancing equality and diversity on a national and international level by electing leaders who have a strong gender perspective.

The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection's call for informed voting as the 2024 General Elections draw near demonstrates the nation's commitment to advancing women's, children's and gender equality and is in line with Indonesia's larger goal of creating a progressive and equitable society.
