Mums & Co., a network for mothers and female entrepreneurs, has been completely acquired by Insurance Australia Group (IAG), the parent company of NRMA Insurance. The general insurer disclosed that, in order to fully acquire the business, it had recently increased its investment.
In 2016, Carrie Kwan helped co-found Mums & Co. After that, the IAG asked her to help with the creation of a support network program for mothers and women all over Australia. Including its members, more than 28,600 people follow Mums & Co.
According to Carrie, the acquisition will give companies and brands a chance to show their dedication to their customers and community, as well as increase the company's support and scale.
Together, Mums & Co. and NRMA Insurance effectively support female entrepreneurs. Mums & Co. respects the courage and optimism required to start something new, and NRMA Insurance is there for them if things don't go as planned.
Carrie added that by purchasing NRMA Insurance, Mums & Co. will also be able to take advantage of the size and power of NRMA Insurance. According to NRMA Insurance and the McKell Institute, Australia's micro business sector has grown at a faster rate over the last four years, by 14 per cent. According to the report "Micro but Mighty: Magnifying Microbusiness in Australia," while micro businesses face many challenges, they are also rapidly growing and have a sizable impact on the economy.
