IPF appoints Michelle Okere as Inaugural Executive Director

Michelle Okere has been appointed by a national charitable organization, Indigenous Prosperity Foundation (IPF) as the inaugural Executive Director. Founded in 2024, IPF is a Non-profit organisation that is committed to provide Indigenous women, youth, and underserved entrepreneurs with digital access, training, mentorship, and funding all across Canada.

Besides IPF, Michelle is the principal at Okere & Associates for more than 7 years alongside the co-founder of REET Institute for last 3 years. Prior to these mentioned firms, she was the CEO of Compassion House Foundation for 3 years and Regional Manager - Saskatchewan & Manitoba at MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) for 2 years.

IPF Board Director and Chair of the Governance and Nomination Committee, Jennifer M. Sloan stated, “After a comprehensive recruitment process, Michelle’s strategic leadership, exceptional business acumen, and proven ability as a collaborator and partner made her the clear choice to drive our IPF mission forward. We are excited to have her on board to work with community members and with those IPF can serve.”

Moreover, Michelle said, “Grounded in Indigenous values and my Métis-Cree heritage, I am honoured to be the first Executive Director of the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation. I look forward to bringing my entrepreneurial and leadership skills to help grow IPF’s social and economic impact. I am excited to start building relationships, fostering trust, and engaging with stakeholders.”
