The Economy, Trade, and Industry Ministry is planning to implement programs that will boost the number of female entrepreneurs in Japan to 20 percent of them in the next five years.
The discussions have been made on Tuesday by the Industrial Structure Council. The government assures to promote investment in women-led businesses by strengthening support training and expansion of their organizations.
The initiative will send 30 female entrepreneurs and 10 female high school students to major U.S. cities like Boston and Silicon Valley, where entrepreneurship is flourishing for about two weeks every year for the next five years.
The government will boost the number of consultation centers all over Japan to host such events that will address the worries of female entrepreneurs that they should be treated properly during the event even though they are pregnant or have a child.
A public-private fund named the Japan Investment Corporation (JIC) will start providing training to female entrepreneurs. In Japan, women make up one in six venture capitalists, which is a lower share as compared to other Western nations.
Keisuke Yokoo who is the President of JIC will be leading the team in this special effort.
