With the winning of Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris lost the battle. Kamala is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants. In American politics, she failed to achieve a big first, after losing in the race to the White House.

She could have become the first female president in the US. However, her loss is a bitterly contested election that shattered many of her supporter’s dreams. Currently, she holds the position of 49th vice president of the United States since 2021.

Additionally, in the many firsts of her career, Kamala also carries the position of highest-ranking female official in states’ history, while being the first African American and first Asian American vice president.

As reported by The Guardian, VP Kamala secured 66,264,540 votes with Trump’s 71,202,731 votes (51%) votes that led to his win in the elections. In contrast, Trump has won 277 electoral votes that led him to a comfortable win against the opponent.

While Trump’s win is being celebrated all across the US, Kamala’s loss feels like a personal to many Indian, African as well as American citizens who were supporting her and wanted to win the battle and lead towards the white house.
