With goals like Equity, fairness and equal opportunity, a new program is all set to try putting women on the route to success since they start a small business. Starting a new business becomes a bit easier for the Kansas City’s women. One such duo from the city, Casey and her sister Sloan Simmons set their goals 28 years back to open their own store. Even after so many efforts, no bank would agree to offer a loan to them or investments to grow their retail shop ‘A Store Named Stuff’.

Casey said, “It was impossible. We were always asked what do your husbands do for a living? That was one of the first three questions we were always asked.” While her sister added, “And what will you do when your children come around?”

Female-owned businesses make up to 39.1 per cent of all businesses in the year 2024, in America which exemplifies that these businesses are thriving at nearly double the rate than Male-owned businesses between the year 2019-2023.

LaTasha Randle, H&R Block Small Business Program Manager stated, “We’re going to offer them grants totaling $100,000 and really the way that will work is we’re going to select five finalists. One of them will be our grand prize winner who will receive $50,000. The other four finalists will receive $12,500 each.”
