A life science business park, Kent's Discovery Park has come up with a special edition Discovery Spark programme. The scheme was announced by Kent & Medway Women’s Health innovation summit. The summit brought NHS leaders, clinicians, patients, academics and innovators together. The application is open for both the male and female founders till April 5, 2024. The upcoming cohort is going to take place from May 12, 2024.
This programme is going to be headed by the head of innovation at Discovery Park and a recognised scientist, entrepreneur and venture development lead, Dr Renos Savva. In her statement, she said, “Discovery Spark gives early-stage start-ups the tools for healthy business foundations, providing expert advice and personal development, all designed with securing investment in mind.”
In order to participate in the edition, the organisations must be working in the femtech sector or must be addressing women’s health. The firms must have a demonstrated proof of concept along with having raised less than £1 million in investment.
Dr Renos added, “The UK has the largest female gender health gap in the G20, so it’s important to supercharge exciting businesses aiming to solve challenges in female health.”
The programme offers tailored mentoring in addition to aid for start-ups. One perk of the programme is, it is offering an opportunity to win a support package worth over £50,000 including a year of lab/office space at Discovery Park. In addition to that, they shall get invaluable support from healthcare partners, Barclays Eagle Labs and six specialist prize partners.
