Kenya’s First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto attended the 27th Ordinary General Assembly of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) on Sunday. The event was held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
Mama Rachel Ruto had the honor of delivering the remarks of Dr. Jill Biden, the First Lady of The United States Of America during the open session. She also shared her interventions in promoting women's economic empowerment, climate action, and faith diplomacy in Kenya.
The first lady focused on the need for continued collaboration and collective action with all stakeholders, in order to strengthen women's role in economic development and fighting the effects of climate change.
This year's theme for the event was ‘Closing Gaps in Gender Equity’. The theme was extensively discussed among the OAFLAD secretariat, First Ladies, technical advisors, high-level government officials, African Union, and development partners.
