On 10th and 11th June, the Women of Worth Gala and Award launch in Riyadh brought together celebrities and public figures to honour Arab women's accomplishments.

“Women make up a significant portion of society and have a lot of influence, yet often their contributions are underappreciated. Thus, the Women of Worth programme with the tagline ‘Because You're Worth It’ was created,” said Ahmed Wagih, general manager of consumer products for L'Oreal Middle East, in a speech.

The event highlighted the Middle East version of the campaigns' award, which honoured mothers, daughters, and changemakers who had made a significant contribution to the neighbourhood. Four women nominated by the public will be chosen by a team of judges that includes L'Oreal's Middle East spokeswoman Aseel Omran, Adwa Al-Dakheel, and others. Each of these ladies will get a $10,000 grant to assist their activities.

“It's also an honour for encouraging and promoting women in various sectors”, Aseel told Arab News. “We need programmes like this one that shine a focus on artists who are making outstanding contributions behind the scenes since not all women nowadays are on social media or have that limelight.”

Aseel is a singer and actress who has collaborated with A-list performers including Jason Derulo and Jennifer Lopez. She also serves as an ambassador for the UNHCR, lending her voice to several of the organization's main initiatives, including the Monsoon Appeal and the Winter Appeal.

“Everyone is watching and waiting for our accomplishments, especially Saudi women with all the changes taking place”, she added. "No one can deny, that the light is being shed on the Arab Woman globally," she remarked.

Aseel participated in a panel discussion with Dr. Samira Elghamdi, a founding member of the Family Protection Association, Adwa Al-Dakheel, a businesswoman and author, Budreya Faisal, a sports marketer, and Ahmed on overcoming obstacles of fear, empowering younger generations, and fostering community.

"Females are proving day in and day out that we don't need favours — we compete regardless of gender, and market timing just happened to put a spotlight on that in an age of opportunities and societal acceptance," Adwa said to Arab News.

Last month, a gala event featuring Eva Longoria, Heidy Klum, Alessandra d'Ambrosio, and other influential women for change took place at the Cannes Film Festival.

Public figures such Emirati actress Mahira Abdelaziz, fitness trainer Zenah Kazim, Saudi actress Helda Yassin, influencer Karina Komil, and travel power couple Pasu and Poo attended the opulent Middle East version at Riyadh Boulevard's Music Mansion.

"I'm really proud of every woman in the globe. Your century is this one. The impossible is now achievable”, according to influencer and affluent traveller Dr. Hasan Ghoneim, who spoke to Arab News.
