  • It will capture women’s diverse perspective and experiences lived through visual artistry and photography

In its third annual edition, ‘The World of Women’ Art and Photography exhibit will return in March, hosted by Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo. In collaboration with the Instituto Cultural de México en Laredo, the event will feature compelling art and photography honouring women’s voices and creativity.

Organized in honor of International Women’s Day, the exhibition will display artwork from Los Dos Laredos. This curated collection will highlight the diverse experiences and unique viewpoints of women through artistic and photographic storytelling.

Jimena Morales, who leads Community Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo, emphasized that the exhibition seeks to foster empowerment in women. It is designed to cultivate meaningful discussions and create inclusive spaces that reflects women’s realities and ideas.

“This year we sought to highlight the role that women have in art, which for a long time played a role only as an inspiring muse. Even though there were women artists, they were relegated behind men’s names or as less notable art,” she said. “At the Instituto Cultural de México en Laredo, we seek to open spaces so that all of us can express our ideas and emotions, and on this occasion, we will be able to see them reflected in art.” “The opening ceremony will take place on March 8, the day festivities will be organized for International Women’s Day,”

She highlighted that for the second time, photography will be incorporated into the exhibition, expanding creative possibilities for artistic representation. The public can visit the exhibit at the Instituto Cultural de México en Laredo, situated on the second floor of the The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, 1600 Water St.

Morales stated that exhibition will be accessible to the visitors from its launch through April 30. She urged the public to engage with the Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo on social media to stay updated on events and contribute ideas for the future.
