The recent promotions executed by the Anglo-Australian law firm Ashurst saw 25 people promoted to partner in its latest promotions round, which matches the record seize set in 2022 but with a significantly fewer number of women.

In 2021, it was a 14-strong round, which had 78 percent female representation, in the group of 2022 saw 48 percent female representation whereas the most recent round comprises only 8 women or making up only 32 percent.

Over the past five years, Ashurst has promoted 52 females which is more than half of the total into its partnership.

The company stated in a publication two years ago that by 2026, at least 40 percent of its partnership and senior business services leaders will be women. As of now, 31 percent of partners are women globally.

Karen Davies, the Global Chair of Ashurst said that the increase in promotions is a reflection of the dedication that this company shows to developing a talent pipeline for the future. She further expressed her joy by welcoming a record number of new members to the global partnership. She congratulated the new joiners on their well-deserved promotion. The appointment is a significant contribution to the firm and the clients.

Australia was prominently featured in the round like last year, including 13 lawyers. 7 were from Sydney, two each from Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Canberra. One promotion each from Jakarta and Tokyo brought the Asia Pacific promotions closer.

Lawyers from Europe and the Middle East also received promotions. The new joiners were added in London where Quentin Robinson, Lindsey Bouchara, and Chris Benbow joined the international projects, projects in Europe, and real estate groups respectively. Paris, Milan, Madrid, Luxembourg, and Dubai each received the remaining five promotions.

The last promotion went to John MacPherson, an employee of the Ashurst Risk Advisory, the firm's consulting division that last year expanded to the UK.
