From August 1–4, 2023, Malawi will host the first-ever Women in Cyber Conference, with the subject "Bringing the Gender Gap and Breaking the Glass Ceiling." The renowned First Lady of the nation, Madam Monica Chakwera, is anticipated to be present at the ceremony, which will be held in Lilongwe.

In a press conference on July 28, 2023, Mary Botomani, vice chair of the organising committee, emphasised the severe underrepresentation of women and girls in disciplines related to cutting-edge technology and cyber security. In order to actively inspire and empower women and girls to seek jobs, education, and involvement in the quickly developing field of cyber security, the conference has been thoughtfully planned.

Mary emphasised the need to dispel common misconceptions and create a welcome environment that inspires women and girls to fully embrace technology. The Women in Cyber Conference seeks to encourage and assist women in their pursuit of careers in cyber security by offering a forum for discussion and learning.

The conference will feature eminent speakers from both the local and global cyber security sectors. These professionals hope to inspire and lead guests via their speeches and experiences by sharing their knowledge and opening their eyes to the opportunities in the cyber security sector.

In tackling the gender gap in technology and cyber security, the Women in Cyber Conference is a significant advancement. Malawi is paving the path for a more varied and vibrant cyber security ecosystem by fostering talent and encouraging inclusion.
