Margot Robbie awarded the coveted SeeHer Award to the outstanding America Ferrera in a beautiful moment at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. The actress, 33, hailed Ferrera, 39, for her revolutionary contributions to the cinema and television industries, highlighting her significance in portraying multifaceted women.

Robbie praised Ferrera for being the "first and only" Latina to win an Emmy for lead actress in a comedy, praising her perseverance in the face of adversity and her dedication to expressing the truth. Ferrera, for her part, offered an emotional acceptance speech, expressing appreciation for the honour, particularly given her heritage.

The Ugly Betty star reflected on the difficulties she encountered as a Latina actor over two decades ago and praised the writers, producers, and directors who helped her and her colleagues depict fully realized characters. Her remarks impacted many people, including Brie Larson, who was obviously shaken, and Taraji P. Henson, who nodded in agreement.

Ferrera dedicated a portion of her address to Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig, recognizing her contribution in demonstrating that expressing female tales improves cinematic grandeur. She also acknowledged the "Kens" in her life for encouraging women's art, including Noah Baumbach and Ryan Gosling.

The SeeHer Award, launched in 2017, recognizes prominent actresses who advocate for gender equality and play characters who push the boundaries. Viola Davis, Zendaya, Halle Berry, and Janelle Monáe are among the previous honorees.

Ferrera's advocacy goes beyond the screen; she co-founded the internet lifestyle group Poderistas, which aims to empower Latina women. Barbie, in which Ferrera starred, garnered a record-breaking 18 Critics Choice Award nominations, with Ferrera nominated for best supporting actress and Robbie nominated for best actress. Ferrera's stunning on-screen performance emphasized the film's compelling message, demonstrating her commitment to real storytelling.
