Maria Yuorpor Appointed as Member of Global Governing Council for YAWC Network

• Maria Johana Yuorpor has been appointed Director for Business Development at the YAWC Network.
• She has also been named a member of the Global Governing Council of YAWC.

Maria Johana Yuorpor, Chairperson of the Upper West Regional Ghana Red Cross Society, has been appointed as the Director of Business Development and named a member of the Global Governing Council for the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network.

Maria has been appointed as Director for Business Development and Global Governing Council member of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network. The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor, Founder and Executive Chairman of YAWC, last Friday.

He congratulated Maria and wished her the best for her future endeavors. YAWC Network is a community of young African women, both on the continent and in the diaspora, focused on empowerment, leadership, and development across Africa.

YAWC Network focuses on mobilizing women from the grassroots level for leadership and development. The organization achieves this through advocacy, training, and projects.

Maria’s appointment aligns with YAWC's goal of attracting and collaborating with top individuals, especially women achievers. This network aims to impact African women both in Africa and in the diaspora.

As a member of the YAWC Network Global Governing Council, Maria will provide strategic oversight and decision-making for the organization.

The Key responsibilities include participating in meetings, reviewing performance indicators, setting policies, and ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and vision.

She will collaborate with leadership to achieve organizational goals. Her role includes strategic planning, policy development, financial oversight, and leadership selection and evaluation. As Director of Business Development, she will lead the growth strategy and implement initiatives to expand the network's revenue.

Maria will develop and execute business development strategies aligned with YAWC Network’s long-term goals and establish, nurture, and grow relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry influencers.

The role involves working closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment on growth initiatives and resource allocation. She will negotiate and close high-value contracts and partnerships to meet revenue.

Maria has a BA in Psychology with Philosophy and an M Phil in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Ghana also she holds diplomas in HR Management, Marketing, Strategic Management, and Customer Care from the UK.

Recently she is pursuing a PhD in Development Management and Governance at (SDD-UBIDS) in Wa, Ghana

Tutor at the School of Continuing and Distance Education, University of Ghana, Legon, Wa Centre, teaching Psychology courses to students from levels 100 to 400.

Board member for the Coalition for Positive Impact (CPI), a non-profit focused on developing African youth into transformative business leaders through innovation, mentorship, and technology.
