A new data has been published by Microsoft’s diversity and inclusion report stating voluntary and involuntary departures. According to the report, the resigning rate of female, Black and Latinx employees of Microsoft Corp. is increasing which is discouraging the efforts of the firm towards fostering a more diverse workforce.

Female are accounted for 32.7 percent of departures for the fiscal year (ended in June 30), up from 2023’s 31 percent, across the world. In addition, US exit’s 10 percent are accounted by Black workers in comparison to 8.7 percent of 2023, having Latinx departures rising to 9.8 percent from 8 percent.

While hiring people from more unrepresented groups still in continuation, Microsoft needs to work even harder to retain them. Moreover, Lindsay-Rae McIntyre, the Chief Diversity Officer of Microsoft stated, “Once that talent arrives at Microsoft, we know that we’ve got to do more. That includes providing mentors and career options that give them an ongoing reason to invest and stay at Microsoft.”

She added, “It’s going to take lots of perspectives to birth a trusted AI that everybody wants to engage with.”

The rising rate of female black employees resigning shows that the company needs to pay attention on their needs, in order to retain them.
