MP George Chahal Introduces 2 Projects to Increase the ability of Female Entrepreneurs and Investors in Alberta

The economy of Canada won't function to its full capacity until everyone is given the chance to contribute. Making sure female entrepreneurs have the tools and resources they need to succeed is key to creating an inclusive economy. To promote the full and equal participation of women in the economy of Alberta, the Government of Canada has partnered with institutions that offer leadership and training.

The Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan, announced a government investment of $861,980 in two Calgary-based programmes today through George Chahal, Member of Parliament for Calgary Skyview. These initiatives are aimed at fostering the growth of small enterprises by providing targeted assistance to female entrepreneurs and investors.

For the purpose of helping immigrant women in Alberta develop their entrepreneurial knowledge and abilities, produce company plans, and obtain start-up capital, the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association will receive $375,630 to construct a new business incubator programme. More than 60 immigrant women are projected to benefit from training through this initiative, which will also help more than 20 small businesses expand.

To provide financial literacy workshops and counselling to women investors throughout the Prairies, Movement51 will receive $486,350. The initiative intends to provide women the skills, networks, and confidence they need to participate actively in the early-stage investment market. This programme is anticipated to help more than 550 women throughout the Prairies.

These groups offer direction and know-how that promote inclusive economic growth in Albertan communities. With funding from PrairiesCan, they will boost the proportion of women-owned and -led enterprises in the Prairies.

In total, the programmes are anticipated to directly support more than 600 female business owners and investors as they take the lead in furthering innovation and economic growth in Alberta and the rest of the Prairies.
