Among the female performers predicted to win the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards, which will take place in Manchester, northwest England, on Sunday, are Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, and Billie Eilish.
The 30th edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, which features the biggest names in world music, begins at 8 p.m. (2000 GMT) at the city's new Co-op Live venue.
The awards, which are being held in Britain for the seventh time, will be hosted by British singer Rita Ora. With megastar Taylor Swift at the top, ten out of the eleven artists with the most nominations are female.
This year, American sensation, Taylor Swift has been nominated in seven categories after releasing her eleventh album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
Taylor Swift will go up against fellow countrymen Beyonce, Eilish, male rapper Post Malone, and British celebrity Raye, who took home a record six awards at this year's Brit Awards, in the Best Artist category. With her hit song "Please Please Please," Sabrina Carpenter, one of the summer's biggest stars, rounds out the list of nominees.
The spot for the Best Song is being fought among Beyonce's "Texas Hold 'Em," Eilish's "Birds of a Feather," Carpenter's "Espresso," "Beautiful Things" by Benson Boone, Chappell Roan's "Good Luck, Babe!," and "We Can't Be Friends" by Ariana Grande.
Some of the additional female upcoming artists contending in other categories include Lisa of the ultra-popular K-pop group Blackpink, and Nigerian star Ayra Starr.
Similar to the US music industry's Grammy awards, Latino performers, including international hits like Colombian Karol G and Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, were excluded from the top categories this year.
\Together with Shakira, who has resurrected her career with the hit song "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53," which is about her breakup with former football player Gerard Pique, both have been included in the Best Latin category.
