National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) has welcomed a multi-practice owner from Ventura, California, Dr. Janis Shinkawa to oversee the 10 female entrepreneurs’ governing body who advice Jen Earle, the CEO of NAWBO and her staff. This is a significant step towards an inclusive workspace.
Since its inception in 1975, this is first time when the firm has a veterinarian chairing its board of directors. NAWBO caters in the Civic and Social Organizations industry that is into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide and assists nearly 10,000 members via political advocacy as well as business training and resources in addition to mentoring and opportunities to network.
Dr. Janis stated, “I was looking for a business community that I truly wanted to be a part of. NAWBO wants to see you succeed in business. If I had an issue, they would help me. If they didn't have the right person in the chapter, they would help me find her. That’s the kind of community I wanted be a part of. Whether you own the practice or not, we’re looked to for leadership from our teams, and our customers look to us for business and financial literacy. Lean into that, don’t be afraid.”
