The Vietnam Women's Union and Nestlé Vietnam inked a strategic collaboration agreement for the years 2022 to 2027 in Hanoi on November 4 to continue implementing a national programme called "Nestlé accompanies women," which had been successful in previous years.

The alliance strives to advance gender equality and women's empowerment, promoting the overall development of women, particularly those living in rural regions.

The three main areas of cooperation are: enhancing the skills of women and Women's Union staff at all levels; assisting women in creating families with a secure home, a sustainable source of income, good health, knowledge, and compliance with certain sanitation standards; and engaging in charitable and social security activities.

The union and Nestlé worked closely together from 2020 to 2022, and this collaboration had a lot of beneficial effects for women's empowerment and gender equality.

As of October 2022, 20 provinces and cities nationwide had collaborated to put into action the "Nestlé accompanies women" programme. This helped 8,000 women receive training on nutrition and how to build a happy and healthy lifestyle, helped 1.2 million households gain access to information about nutrition, and helped 3,000 family members start and maintain a business.

These accomplishments are laying a solid foundation on which the two parties' cooperative relationship can be further developed over the course of the next five years.

The Vietnam Women's Union and Nestlé Vietnam have decided to continue operating the "Nestlé accompanies women" programme, according to Ton Ngo Hanh, vice president of the organisation "programme.

"I think that the strategic partnership between the two parties will help to advance women's rights and increase the organization's professionalism and effectiveness, "said Hanh.

“From the very first days of our presence in Vietnam, in parallel with promoting sustainable development, women's empowerment and gender equality is one of Nestlé's top priorities,” Binu Jacob, managing director of Nestlé Vietnam, said. “The strategic cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Women's Union for the next five years once again affirms Nestlé Vietnam's long-term commitment in joining hands to promote gender equality and empower women, and take care of health, nutrition, and safety for women and children in Vietnam.
