Federal Minister of Sport, Anika Wells, has announced five new appointments to the Australian Sports Commission Board. Kate Jenkins AO will lead the board as Chair, with Nick Green appointed as Deputy Chair. New members joining the board include Selwyn Button, Dr. Chloë Flutter, Andrew Purchas, and Lydia Williams. Lynne Anderson has been reappointed to continue her valuable contribution to Australian sport.
Nick Green is a dual Olympic rowing gold medalist, former Chief Executive of Cycling Australia, Director of the Australian Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Australia, and was Chef de Mission of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team.
Lynne Anderson is a former Chief Executive of Paralympics Australia, a member of Sport Integrity Australia’s Advisory Council, and Chair of the Bulldogs Rugby League Club.
Selwyn Button is a Gungarri man from Southwest Queensland, an experienced leader in health, education, and governance organizations, and currently an Indigenous Policy Evaluation Commissioner at the Productivity Commission.
Dr. Chloë Flutter is a former Australian squad swimmer, Swimming Australia Board member, and senior strategy and business transformation consultant at Boston Consulting Group.
Andrew Purchas is a former Vice President of ACON Health, senior executive, diversity advocate, founder of the Sydney Convicts Rugby Club, and former President of the Bingham Cup Sydney 2014.
Lydia Williams is a Noongar woman, decorated Matilda’s goalkeeper, and advocate for women's football and player rights.
Anika announced the new board has two Indigenous members and is 54% female, bringing diverse expertise. She praised Australia's record-breaking year in sport and thanked outgoing members Andrew Ireland, Kurt Fearnley AO PLY, and Amanda Laing for their contributions.
