New Documentary series made on Australian Women's National Team to be launched in Disney+

Streaming on Disney+ from today, a new six-part documentary series will be released on the Australian National Women's Soccer team, also known as The Matildas which aims to shed light on the obstacles and challenges that were faced by the player's ahead of hosting the Women's World Cup.

"Matildas: The World At Their Feet," describes the inspirational and intimate behind-the-scenes story of the CommBank Matildas - Australia's women's national football team is a similar series created by the WarnerBros on the German Women's National Team that was released last year.

The series follows the team at the Asian Cup which began in 2022, it is followed by one of their worst defeats ever and also shows how they finally managed to set about a poor set of results around as they prepare to co-host the Women's World Cup finals with New Zealand this summer.

Sam Kerr, the captain of the National team played a key role in the series as she deals with Australia's surprise elimination in the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup. During that competition, she surpassed Tim Cahill, who scored 50 goals for the men's team, and became her country’s all-time leading scorer.

The series includes every detail about the players of the team the anterior ligament injury that caused Ellie Carpenter a long rehabilitation during the UEFA Champions League Final, midfielder Katrina Gorry's pregnancy and return to competitive action, and striker Emily Gielnik opening up about coming out to her Croatian family as she gets ready to propose her longtime girlfriend.
