In a recent announcement, it has been revealed by New Mexico Foundation for Open Government’s (FOG) Board of Directors have named Christine Barber to the position of new Executive Director of the organization.
Founded in 1990, the organisation caters in the Public Policy Offices industry with headquarters in Albuquerque, NM, having specialities in freedom of information, transparency, public records, and open meetings.
Christine Barber is a seasoned leader with work experience as executive director for two non-profit organizations that focused on offering services to marginalized individuals. She has also worked as a journalist at the Gallup Independent along with Santa Fe New Mexican and the Albuquerque Journal.
The president of the organisation, Jessica Onsurez stated, “Transparency and the public’s right to know are coming under attack from numerous fronts. We are pleased to welcome Christine onboard at this critical time as FOG takes on these challenges. Melanie not only has years of outstanding service to the FOG community, and she has built on our strong foundation allowing us to move to the future.”
Moreover, Christine is also known to be a published and award-winning author, armed with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. She also holds another degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico.
