An official data has been released by General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) that reports the female labour force participation of Saudi Arabia has reached a new high of 36.2% in 2024’s 3rd quarter. This marks as a continued progress in the efforts of the kingdom towards boosting the economic involvement of females.
GASTAT also reports that the employment-to-population ratio has increased by 0.5% points amongst Saudi females to 31.3%. However, young Saudi females aging from 15-24 witness their workforce participation rose by 1% points to 18%. The overall unemployment rate edged up to 7.8%, specifically in the 3rd quarters i.e., an increase of 0.7% points as compared to previous quarter, still showing 1% point of annual improvement in comparison to the same period in 2023.
In addition, the total labour force participation rate for Saudi nationals have risen to 51.5% i.e., up 0.7% points both quarterly and annually while having the employment-to-population ratio reaching up to 47.4%.
In contrast, the participation of Saudi males in the workforce has also witnessed an increase with the increasing rate of 0.6% points to 66.9%, having the core-working-age group from 25 to 54 years with participation rising rate of 69.4%.
