New Report finds Increase in Female Labour Force Participation in Saudi Arabia

An official data has been released by General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) that reports the female labour force participation of Saudi Arabia has reached a new high of 36.2% in 2024’s 3^rd quarter. This marks as a continued progress in the efforts of the kingdom towards boosting the economic involvement of females.

GASTAT also reports that the employment-to-population ratio has increased by 0.5% points amongst Saudi females to 31.3%. However, young Saudi females aging from 15-24 witness their workforce participation rose by 1% points to 18%. The overall unemployment rate edged up to 7.8%, specifically in the 3^rd quarters i.e., an increase of 0.7% points as compared to previous quarter, still showing 1% point of annual improvement in comparison to the same period in 2023.

In addition, the total labour force participation rate for Saudi nationals have risen to 51.5% i.e., up 0.7% points both quarterly and annually while having the employment-to-population ratio reaching up to 47.4%.

In contrast, the participation of Saudi males in the workforce has also witnessed an increase with the increasing rate of 0.6% points to 66.9%, having the core-working-age group from 25 to 54 years with participation rising rate of 69.4%.
