NGX Backs 100 Women in Finance as Group Opens Chapter in Nigeria

In his opening remarks, Mr. Jude Chiemeka, Divisional Head, Capital Markets, NGX, emphasized that the company is dedicated to reducing the gender gap for women in light of its Gender Leadership in the Nigerian private sector.

"Under the Nigeria2Equal initiative, we are now working in conjunction with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to eliminate gender inequalities in the nation's private sector by providing greater possibilities for women to hold leadership roles and find jobs. Additionally, the NGX Group of Companies recently achieved EDGE Certification, demonstrating our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and making us the first indigenous Nigerian corporate to do so globally.”

These achievements continue to serve as a testament to our commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality in our workplace and in the industry in which we work. "Our drive as an institution is to continue to create sustainable products that promote gender equity."

According to Amanda Pullinger, chief executive officer of 100 Women in Financial, “The non-profit organization was founded to inspire the next generation of female financiers and to empower women working in the financial sector by paving the way for them. "100 Women in Finance provides a forum for women to discuss opportunities and challenges while supporting them with a network of other women who can relate to them."

She said, "We are generating wealth for women and supporting initiatives to connect with the next generation.”

"For us at the exchange, ESG and gender equality are very important to us, and as we enter phase 2 of Nigeria2Equal, we hope that we can leverage these partnerships towards closing the gender gap in the private sector," said Mrs. Irene Robinson-Ayanwale, Divisional Head, Business Support Services Division/General Counsel, NGX.
