Economic Development Minister Barbara Edmonds will make history when she will travel to Australia with the first-ever all-female trade delegation from New Zealand. The mission includes a significant 26-member business group, demonstrating the commitment to building stronger economic ties between the two close neighbours.
Minister Barbara will participate in numerous significant business events throughout the tour, bolstering the momentum of New Zealand's trade. An occasion with Aboriginal businesswomen, exhibiting the spirit of collaboration and diversity in business, will be one of the highlights of her tour. She will also meet with Victoria's Governor, Her Excellency Margaret Gardner, to stress the significance of the two countries' relationship.
Minister Edmonds was optimistic about the potential the mission would bring to New Zealanders and said of the mission, "With our trans-Tasman relationship stronger than ever, it's a great time to keep building on our trade momentum and continue providing greater economic security for New Zealanders."
With Australia serving as many enterprises' initial export destination, it occupies a prominent position in New Zealand's export scene. The importance of this alliance is highlighted by the fact that the value of commerce between the two countries in only the previous year was over $29 billion.
This mission celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Australia-New Zealand Closer Economic Relations, one of the most cutting-edge free-trade agreements in the world, as well as the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup.
The varied delegation is comprised of representatives from several industries, including marketing, technology, food and beverage, and health goods. It exemplifies the finest of New Zealand's ingenuity, sustainability, and dedication to the welfare of the community. Mori and Pacific representatives, who are instrumental in fostering indigenous economic growth in the area, are also honoured to be participating in the trip.
"I'm thrilled to be leading this historic trade mission to further show the world what Kiwi women in business can achieve," Minister Barbara said in reference to the accomplishments of New Zealand women in business.
The trade trip, which emphasises New Zealand's commitment to strengthening economic collaboration with its Australian counterpart, will take place from August 13 to August 17.
