Ogilvy announces hiring of two Women executives to bolster North American leadership

By: GWL Team | Friday, 3 March 2023

Ogilvy New York's new president, Darla Price, will oversee all facets of the company's operations in the areas of advertising, public relations, experiences, consulting, and health. She succeeds Carina De Blois, who has been elevated to the position of Chief Operational Officer at Ogilvy North America.

Carina will collaborate with regional leaders to unleash the potential of the company's aggregate skills, providing clients with innovative solutions that are highly agile and effective. Both will be directly responsible to Devika Bulchandani, Ogilvy's global CEO.

"I am happy to have Carina move into this bigger role after doing an outstanding job heading our New York office over the previous two years. Our success was largely due to her grace, capacity to dismantle obstacles to creativity, and dedication to holy dissatisfaction”, stated Devika. "Darla is someone I've known and respected for a long time. I could not be more pleased to have her guiding our flagship office into the future because of her unmatched ability to advance clients, innovation, and culture. I can't wait to watch how this team affects the world.”

The chance to combine a unique set of skills—from public relations and advertising to digital experience and consulting—made this decision very impossible to refuse, according to Price. "I'm happy to be joining such a renowned firm where I can change the culture and the work to generate impact with such a terrific team," the new hire said.

Carina said, "I'm excited to draw on my ten years of expertise at Ogilvy to drive growth for our clients through new methods of working that will have even more effect and creative answers to their most difficult problems”.

"I still value the entrepreneurial spirit of David Ogilvy that permeates our agency since it has provided me with yet another chance to develop in novel and fascinating ways, together with partners like Darla. We connected right away when we first met, and I have no doubt that she will be a force for our company to grow”.

With more than 20 years of expertise, Darla Price has worked with a variety of companies, including Microsoft, Kroger, Olay, Johnson & Johnson, HomeGoods, Lockheed Martin, and General Mills.

In 2021, she made history by becoming the first Black woman to lead DDB New York. For the last two years, Price's leadership has contributed to DDB's success by cultivating a more inclusive and representative workplace and churning out clients' award-winning creative work.

Price oversaw important accounts for Saatchi & Saatchi in Singapore and Mumbai earlier in her career as a result of her international travels and insatiable curiosity about the globe. Darla was recognised as a Pocstock Top 50 Black Leader and a Leading Woman by Ad Age in 2022. She was also selected as an ADCOLOR Change Agent nominee for 2020. Price is passionate about assisting young people of colour in the advertising profession and is also an Executive Coach, ardent mentor, and proponent of the future of work and DE&I.

An expert in the field with more than 20 years of experience, Carina has earned a reputation as a client's valued partner in the development of their brands, consumer engagement, and impact.

She most recently worked as Ogilvy New York's president. Carina has been motivated throughout her career by the conviction that businesses must switch from addressing revenue issues with strategies to resolving business issues with brand experiences that alter how consumers feel, behave, and think.

She has collaborated on award-winning B2B and B2C campaigns with some of the most recognisable and renowned businesses in the world, including IBM, J&J, Facebook, Samsung, and startups and newcomers to the market.

Carina formerly held the position of Chief Client Officer for New York, where she cultivated and expanded strong, meaningful connections with the company's clientele. Carina started working at Ogilvy in 2013 as a global client lead for IBM, where she helped modernise their brand through ground-breaking marketing using Watson and AI.
