The local government of Pasig City in Philippines which is very much involved in helping women develops their entrepreneurial skills & augmenting their knowledge & capabilities organized this year’s Women Entrepreneurship Summit. This two-day event was held in honor of Women's Month and was meant to give women the needed tackle and insight that will enable them to survive the business world.
The summit took place at Chardonnay by Astoria- location of the venue in Pasig City. The 100 women entrepreneurs who participated in the gathering were of diverse backgrounds. The event hosted a group of passionate women interested in the business world. They explored various aspects of starting and running a business efficiently.
One of the best sessions during the summit was about how to put an effective business plan together. The session was facilitated by the PCE-Go Negosyo mentor, Jordan Willy Patente. Participants in the training course obtained useful ideas on how to create strategic and all-embracing business plans which can lead to company growth and success.
An area of interest that gained popularity among participants was the module on marketing and branding strategies led by PCE-Go Negosyo mentor, Florlyn Dela Pena. The session focused on providing participants with skills and knowledge on how to build strong brand presence and optimize it for reaching target audience optimally.
One important factor of business is financial management and the mentor from PCE Go Negosyo, Tristan Ian Cristobal, was able to handle this aspect of business excellently. Participants received essential advising on comprehensive management of financial affairs which served as the basis for stable and profit generating growth.
Noting the local government's engagement to inspire female entrepreneurs, Atty. Diego Luis Santiago, Officer-In-Charge of the Pasig City Local Economic Development and Investment Office (PCLEDIO), along with Economist III Crisostomo Ian Veron Cruz, articulated the city’s programs and projects that are geared toward women entrepreneurs in Pasig.
One of the main topics of the summit is the development of leadership and business skills provided by Michelle B. Ballesteros, the President of Pasig City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PACCII). This session aimed at providing women entrepreneurs with the right acumen and skills to act as leaders and stand out in the business field that is competitive.
In addition, the CDO supervising cooperative specialist, John Troy Sunga, contributed to the discussions by highlighting the immense potential that cooperatives provide for businesswomen to grow and expand their businesses by taking advantage of this collaborative support structure.
During the event, panel discussion was the spotlight where coming from the top women entrepreneurs, their way of success was shared.
PCW has quoted the celebration of women’s month to have served not only as a venue to highlight women’s success stories but also to talk about the continuing women empowerment and gender issues and concerns, the challenges, and commitments to its resolutions.
Moreover, it also clarified that, this event is anchored on activities that are promised of concreteness and have both national and international ties such as the Convention on all forms of discrimination against women, the Beijing platform for action, the Philippine plan for gender responsive development (1995-2025), the framework plan for women, and the sustainable development goals.
