Melinda French Gates, the founder of Pivotal, has made an announcement on May 2024 regarding her commitment of an additional $1 billion which is supposed to be spent in the next 2 years, intending to advance women’s power across the globe.
Founded in 2015 by Melinda, the venture caters in the Civic and Social Organizations industry with headquarters in Seattle, Washington. The underlying idea behind the venture was to accelerate the social progress’ pace by eliminating all barriers that holds people back.
The venture notes that they are “working to get more power in the hands of more people - especially women,” through high-impact investments, philanthropy, partnerships, and advocacy. A total fund of $250 million is open for organisations that serve women across the world.
Brooke D. Anderson, Pivotal Ventures President advised, “We see expanding women’s power and influence not as a single issue but rather as a prerequisite to progress on more or less every issue.”
Pivotal Ventures’ Senior Vice President of Program Strategy, Investment, and Communication and Chief Strategy Officer Haven Ley added, “We hope that this open call will be a catalyst for future change, leading to more funding, more partnerships, more innovation, and more models to scale.”
