The Port of Seattle is calling on small company entrepreneurs to apply for its third annual Accelerator Programme aimed at fostering growth and sustainability. Applications for the Port of Seattle Business Accelerator Programme are being accepted until August 1, 2023. Startups and entrepreneurs interested in the program are encouraged to apply by visiting the official website of the programme.

In collaboration with Business Impact NW, the Port is particularly urging women- and minority-owned enterprises in crucial sectors such as construction, architecture, engineering, and design to take advantage of this opportunity.

The 10-week Business Accelerator Programme for 2023 provides participants with access to a dynamic network of resources, funding, commercialization expertise, and personalized guidance tailored to their goals. Trainings offered through the program, facilitated by business leaders and seasoned mentors, further equip entrepreneurs for success while fostering community partnerships among like-minded business owners.

Sam Cho, President of the Port of Seattle Commission, emphasized the importance of a diverse partner list, stating, "When our partner list includes a diverse group of local businesses, we can better deliver on our operational mission and our economic development mission." By participating in the Accelerator Programme, small enterprises can position themselves for opportunities within the port or connected industries with the support of the Port of Seattle.

To date, 25 graduates have successfully completed the programme, with one of the notable success stories being Lisa Keohokalole Schaer of Point North Consulting, Inc. Reflecting on her experience, Keohokalole Schaer shared, "I have gained insightful knowledge and connected with industry professionals I could never have met without this programme. I have no doubt that the investment this programme has made in my DBE, WMBE firm will help my business grow."

Domonique Juleon, Chief Programme Officer of Business Impact NW, expressed delight in collaborating with the Port of Seattle to offer fair opportunities to small business owners from underserved and historically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Through the partnership, they aim to provide relevant business training, valuable contacts, and opportunities for women- and minority-owned construction and A&E enterprises to expand their operations.
