A two-year initiative has been introduced by Property Council and the Property Champions of Change with an intent towards promoting gender diversity in capital transactions as well as leasing particularly two sectors in the property industry which has always known to be a male-dominated field.
The initiative i.e., the Capital Transactions and Leasing Early Career Program plans to assist early-career women by providing them with mentorship, training, and networking opportunities.
In addition, the participating organisations shall nominate an early-career woman during the first phase of the program for joining. 28 females coming from New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland will participate in the program while gaining access to monthly masterclasses which involves industry leaders and key industry events. Alongside the program, a marketing campaign shall also take place, intending to attract more women to pursue careers in property.
In a statement, Property Council of Australia’s diversity and inclusion director Nicole Battley said, “We’re committed to fostering diversity in capital transactions and leasing, ensuring more women have a clear pathway to leadership. The Capital Transactions and Leasing Early Careers Program will help create a strong pipeline of women into two of property’s most male-dominated fields. By building a critical mass of women in these sectors, we’re laying the foundation for long-term diversity at senior levels. Participants will gain invaluable connections through industry networks and established programs like 500 Women in Property.”
During the launch event of the program, Peter Menegazzo, the chief executive of Investa and Champions of Change Coalition member stated, “We must continue to build the talent pipeline, break down barriers, foster inclusion, and support programs like this. They also provide support, training, mentorship, and access to networks – ensuring women don’t just enter these roles but thrive in them.”
