Russia to host First BRICS Women's Forum 2024

The BRICS Women's Forum will be hosted for the first time in St. Petersburg, Russia, from September 18 to 20, 2024, as part of the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum. The event aims to promote women's empowerment and gender equality among the BRICS countries.

Female leaders from over 100 countries gathered in 2021 for the Third Eurasian Women's Forum, which included legislators, business executives, and public activists. The forum has gained worldwide recognition and partnered with organizations such as BRICS, APEC, UNIDO, and W20. The Third Eurasian Women's Forum in 2021 will feature a presentation on the BRICS Women's Business Alliance.

This declaration was made during a meeting of the organizing committee for the next women's conference by Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of the Council of Federation (FC). She noted that Russia leads the BRICS this year. The forum's idea and organization are critical to its status as an important BRICS event, she stated. Valentina also declared "Women for Confidence Building and Global Cooperation" as the event's preliminary topic. The organizers anticipate a diverse participation of countries from the global South and East, she added.

The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament remarked that the female leaders from across the world who will attend the event would be required to deliver some essential points on the specified topic. Valentina remarked, that to increase participation, a complete application campaign should be created, with the most significant speakers invited to the forum.

Olga Batalina, First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection, announced the launch of a big BRICS event in Russia, which would begin with regional industrial events a few months before, and requested that the Ministry of Labor arrange these traditional events in Kazan, Sochi, and Moscow.
