The leader in global analytics, SAS has started a 30×30 initiative that will provide technology and training to a group to increase the number of females in policing agencies. As law enforcement agencies have worked hard to make better use of data to speed up investigations and enhance community outcomes, SAS has increased its focus on public safety and analytics in recent years.
The current percentage of females working in the US as sworn officers is 13 percent and in police, leadership roles is just 3 percent. 30×30 initiative aims to increase the representation of females in police recruitment classes to 30 percent by the year 2030 and also to promote the success of qualified female officers throughout their careers.
These benefits are being recognized worldwide and people have started promoting gender equality to support society.
For case management, officer safety, community involvement, and evidence-based policing, the power of data is being tapped by law enforcement agencies all over the world. Thus, to fight against crime, the police force needs a new set of skills. For law enforcement officers, SAS is offering a customized training path that is centered on four crucial data skills which are SAS Programming I, Data Literacy Essentials, Leading with Analytics, Investigation Management, and Analysis.
The members of law enforcement who are interested can get the training on the SAS Women in Policing page.
The SAS Data for Good team is also developing data-sharing features to help the members of the 30×30 initiative track and assess their progress towards quality and diversity goals.
Fortune magazine has rated SAS as the Best Workplace for Women many times. Women have made up 40 percent of the SAS global workforce and 33 percent of the global leadership.
