The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has partnered with Google Cloud to create the Elevate Programme in an effort to close the gender gap in the technology sector and promote data and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This innovative programme intends to educate 1,000 women from 29 different nations in cutting-edge technological sectors.
The Elevate Programme has an ambitious goal of teaching more than 25,000 women worldwide in specialised technical disciplines over the course of five years, according to a report from the Saudi Press Agency on August 15, 2023. The program's initial phase, which began in May, uses a thorough training methodology to provide participants with the abilities needed for success in the data and AI space.
The Elevate Program's curriculum is inclusive and flexible. Women who sign up will participate in a four-stage remote training programme that includes integrated learning, recorded lectures, self-training modules, group-based synchronous learning, open seminars, virtual courses, and hands-on projects. This learning process will be guided by a team of seven male and nine female Saudi trainers who will provide 340 hours of rigorous instruction. Technical specialists and individuals without a technical background are the two courses that make up the programme.
The Elevate Programme offers free training courses in cloud engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, and cloud operations. Its scope spans important elements of the technological environment. 300 female technical professionals and 700 non-specialists from a variety of nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Mauritania, the US, Nigeria, and many more, participated in the program's first phase.
The Elevate Programme correlates with the Sustainable Development Goals by tackling gender gaps in scientific and technology sectors in addition to teaching skills essential to developing tech industries.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority and Google Cloud's strategic partnership not only supports diversity but also advocates technological innovation. The Elevate Programme has the ability to transform the digital sector and make it more diverse and inclusive as it moves forward on its current course.
